Standard Hartman Value Profile

The Values Compass assessment is about how people assign different values to individuals, objects, and ideas. The underlying theory dates back to the time of Plato (400 BC), and has been validated in more recent years by the Hartman Institute. The assessment does not measure aptitude for any specific occupation, however, and thus should not be the sole basis for a hiring decision.

  • Reserve a time that allows you to complete your assessment in one sitting and without interruption (approx 20 minutes).
  • There are two sets of statements. For each set, use your mouse to 'drag' the statements so that the statement that has the most value for you is on top (#1), and the statement that appears least valuable to you is on the bottom.
